Batala Philly is an all-percussion band that plays Samba Reggae music from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. As part of a larger Batala Mundo global arts project that began 25 years ago, we share rhythms with other Batala bands in the U.S. and around the world.
Batalá Philly is all volunteer and open to anyone regardless of race/religion/gender identity/economic status. Currently they have about 25 active members. Their goal is to share the joy of Bahian culture and Samba Reggae music and use their energy to get people dancing!
